Introducing AgGrad 30 Under 30!

It’s always an honor to be nominated for something, but especially an award from AgGrad. (What?? AgGrad gives awards now??) Yes, we do! And this year, we’re really excited to announce the start of our new 30 Under 30 program for up-and-coming ag-folks. You’re totally dying for information, I’m sure, but hold your horses—we’ll tell you all about it! Just keep reading.

What is It?

AgGrad 30 Under 30 is our way of celebrating the new game-changers in agriculture. It’s an opportunity to recognize that this isn’t your grandfather’s job anymore, and that by including young people and innovative technology in this industry, we’re creating something new and amazing. That’s why we want to honor the young entrepreneurs, researchers, and influencers in the world of agriculture. It’s also cool because people under 30 are still kind-of recent ag grads, so we get to keep supporting graduates!

Who’s it For?

We’ll give you a hint: you’re not eligible if you’re in your fifties. (But you probably picked up on that). Because we really want to recognize young people who started young and made a big difference, we’re focusing this honor on nominees who are at least 21 but no older than 30. Nominating people in this age bracket is popular because people recognize that making an impact before you’re 30 is a significant accomplishment; most people are still trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives!

That’s why across a lot of different fields take a moment to acknowledge young adults’ achievements and the nominees can range anywhere from tech moguls to fashion models. (Forbes’ 30 Under 30, anyone?) And while it’s awesome to recognize people in those industries, we think it’s time to expand ag-awards beyond 4H. (Even though we do love 4H!) We want to celebrate the accomplishments of ag grads on a level that goes beyond local, community, or even statewide notoriety.

You guys are amazing, and that’s why we want to give you an award that really captures the significance of what you’ve accomplished, an award you can share with the world. In short, we’re passionate about this award because AgGrad’s 30 Under 30 will set the tone for what is to come in agriculture. They are outstanding in their career, community, character, and contributions to agriculture.

How do you Get Nominated?

First, write a fifty-page persuasive essay on why you are totally the most amazing ag-grad under 30… No. We are 100% kidding- the nomination process is really simple. In order to be nominated, all you have to do is fill out a short form here. (That’s right—we take self-nominations!) To submit a nomination for yourself or someone else, just answer a few questions about the nominee’s information so we can get to know them better. Tell us:

  • Who they are
  • Where they’re from, and
  • How they’ve contributed to agriculture

That’s all!

When?

Nominations close on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 11:59 PM, so be sure to get them in any time before the 31st. The winners will be announced in March 2019 (exact date and location will be announced soon) and all selected honorees will be featured in a special print and online publication in Spring 2019.
